Normally I wouldn't bother mentioning it here since I tend to be flamed and called a 'nerd' or 'geek' or whatever, but after seeing the threads about the Warhammer RTS games, I figured I'd update you guys on a new RTS game that's due February 20, and the demo was just released today.

It's called "Supreme Commander" and is created by Chris Taylor, mastermind behind the underrated RTS "Total Annihilation" and "Dungeon Siege" series for PC.

"Supreme Commander" is basically a real-time strategy game, only set on a HUGE scale. You can have literally hundreds upon hundreds (and even thousands) of units on the same map, and you can have a huge variety of units to choose from - ground, air, sea - so you can have battles on many different fronts.

There are numerous things that make this game stand out from the rest:
- The large scale (hundreds-to-thousands of units on one map)
- The zoom feature (you can go from a ground-level-type zoom to a see-the-entire-map level zoom, and you never lose the ability to control your units, etc. while doing this!)
- Each side has one "commander" (Supreme Commander, get it?) that constructs buildings but also has the ability to walk around on the battle field and use its powerful weapons to destroy the enemy; if the commander unit is destroyed you lose, but it DOES serve as a really good early-game defense weapon.
- HUGE maps as well; just imagine a 4-on-4 match online in which there are thousands of units swarming around on a huge battlefield.
- LONG games - I've heard the games on Supreme Commander can range anywhere from about 1 hour to 4+ hours, and up to even an entire weekend on the largest maps! You may ask, "Long games are better!?" My response would be, "For the tactical enthusiast, YES! Longer games = more time to think strategically, and a better sense of actually commanding a 'battle'! THIS IS ALL OUT WAR!"

There are also many more cool features, but I honestly can't remember enough of them to make an even longer list.

TWO WARNINGS BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD/PLAY THE DEMO:
(1.)THIS GAME REQUIRES A MODERATELY FAST COMPUTER, ESPECIALLY WITH THE LARGE AMOUNT OF UNITS ON-SCREEN, SO IF YOU CAN'T RUN THE PC GAMES OF TODAY YOU'LL LIKELY HAVE TROUBLE RUNNING THIS GAME!

(2.)THIS GAME IS *NOT* VERY EASY TO LEARN! EVEN IF YOU'VE PLAYED REAL-TIME STRATEGY GAMES BEFORE, THIS GAME INTRODUCES NEW ELEMENTS AND FEATURES THAT ARE A BIT DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL RTS GAMES. THE DEMO DOES INCLUDE A "TUTORIAL" OPTION ON THE MAIN MENU, BUT RIGHT NOW THE LINK THAT IT SENDS YOU TO RESULTS IN A "UNDER CONSTRUCTION"-TYPE PAGE, SO THEY HAVEN'T COMPLETED THE TUTORIALS YET! THE GAME HAS A STEEP LEARNING CURVE, AND I STILL HARDLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY!
